Meet Bill Brawley

If elected what are your top three priorities?

  1. Public Safety – Particular focus on neighborhood safety and protection of children. Will continue work to increase the penalties for felons carrying handguns illegally and to expand efforts to combat human trafficking through education and rescue.
  2. Education – Improve education for all children. Continue to increase funding for classrooms and for teacher pay which passed every year I was in Raleigh.  Continue to expand charter schools, opportunity scholarships, increase protections for home school, and parental rights regarding curriculum and school choice.
  3. Responsible Fiscal Management – Spending has been prioritized to maximize the benefits that accrue to all the people of North Carolina while keeping spending growth below the increase due to inflation and population growth. NC has avoided many of the mistakes other states have made and has larger reserves and fewer under funded commitments that most states, and should continue to be prudent.

What experience do you have that qualifies you for the position?

Served in this office for eight years; elected in 2010; actively involved in the issues above and in common sense legislation.  Primary sponsor of the Strategic Transportation Investments Act which took much of the politics out of road funding and resulted in major increases in new roads being funding in Mecklenburg County. Active in the tax changes that made NC more prosperous as rates have fallen and the base has broadened Served as chairman of several key committees including Transportation Chair and Senior Chair of Finance.

Why have you decided to run for office?

The progress made on good government issues must be defended and expanded.
